Fighting Stormwater Pollution in Major Cities
For large cities, stormwater pollution can pose a problem that can put the water supply in grave danger. Major cities like New York City, Houston, and Chicago attempt to fight stormwater pollution on a daily basis in order to provide their residents with safe drinking water. Why is this problem so great for major cities? Ultimately, stormwater pollution is caused by the washing of oil, gasoline, chemicals, and other dangerous substances into the water drainage system. Obviously for major cities, more people result in more pollution. Therefore, the water supply of major cities becomes riddled with pollutants that tarnish the city's water supply. Thankfully, there is a solution to this dangerous problem. Major cities are able to combat stormwater pollution through the use of stormwater filters. These filters are placed within the city's drainage system, effectively removing the harmful substances and chemicals and providing the public with safe drinking water.
